Where we can begin
Care built around your actual day.
Diabetes management involves more than knowing which foods contain carbohydrate. Sleep, stress, medications, meal timing, movement, access to food and your cultural preferences all affect what is realistic. We start by listening, then focus on the changes most likely to improve your health without overwhelming you.
- Prediabetes and insulin resistanceBuild sustainable eating patterns that support glucose management and long-term metabolic health.
- Type 2 diabetesConnect glucose patterns, food choices, medications and routines in a way that is practical to use.
- Type 1 diabetesSupport carbohydrate awareness, meal planning and nutrition questions alongside your medical diabetes team.
- Cardiometabolic healthAddress cholesterol, blood pressure and weight-related concerns that often overlap with diabetes care. See related heart-health nutrition counseling and metabolic health support.
- New diagnosis or changing treatmentTurn new information into a manageable next step and questions you can bring back to your physician.

Common questions
Diabetes nutrition counseling FAQ
Do I need to stop eating carbohydrates?
No. Carbohydrate foods affect glucose, but diabetes nutrition care is not simply about eliminating them. We look at portions, timing, food combinations, preferences, medications and your overall health.
Can a dietitian change my diabetes medication?
No. Medication decisions belong to your prescribing clinician. Nutrition counseling can help you understand patterns and prepare useful questions for your medical team.
Will insurance cover diabetes or prediabetes nutrition visits?
Many plans include nutrition benefits, but coverage varies by diagnosis and policy. Review our insurance guide, then confirm medical nutrition therapy benefits with the member-services number on your card.
Can I meet by telehealth?
Telehealth appointments are available when appropriate and when your location is eligible. Use the booking link to see current options.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring your medication list, recent laboratory results if available, and any glucose or continuous glucose monitor information you already use. You do not need to create a perfect food record before asking for help. You can also meet the Keatley Nutrition team before your visit.
